DECK LAYOUT

The deck on Vento is well thought out and very efficient for a racing boat of this size. All controls are lead aft so they can be controlled without the need for someone going forward. All the Halyard and control lines are controlled by 4 sets of new Spinlock XTS Rope Clutches, (new in 2012). VENTO is the triple spreader rig with a Baby stay forward and upper and lower check stays running aft. The check stays are rigged with both gross and fine tuning. |

Winches aboard VENTO are plentiful and positioned well for all tasks. Cabin top there are 4 Maxwell #22 STA Self tailing winches. The primary's are 2 Maxwell #28's and then aft there are 2 self tailing Maxwell #26's for handling the spinnaker sheets. The boat was originally fitted with a Hydraulic Vang was replaced sometime earlier with a QuickVang, and will probably be replaced again with hydraulics in the near future. |

The mainsheet is a dual speed HARKEN 6:1 sheeting system on a new HARKEN Big Boat traveler, (new in 2012). The traveler is built around a 32mm High Beam track with low profile end block. In the open cockpit there is plenty of room for the Main trimmer to work forward of the wheel while still allowing plenty of space for the head sail trimmers to take long pulls. The steering aboard Vento was converted from a tiller, some years back to a Edison pedestal and wheel. The Spinnaker pole on VENTO is set to for a Dip Pole Gybes |
